Star Ship Design Project
Project Type:
Class Project
This project aimed at expanding the use of Starship delivery robots on the Purdue University campus beyond food delivery to foster human on human connections and aid navigation for newer students. The project objectives included designing a new use case for the robots, conducting interviews to gather empathetic data, and creating deliverables such as scenarios, storyboards, and sketches.
Key findings from the interviews highlighted both the convenience and challenges associated with the Starship robots, including slow delivery times and navigation obstacles. The proposed solution involved transforming the robots into navigational aids during special periods such as orientation weeks, providing guidance to new students, showcasing campus buildings and events, and serving as mobile advertisements.
Overall, the project showcased the power of design thinking to address campus challenges and enhance the student experience. By repurposing existing technology, we aimed to create a more welcoming and supportive environment for new students at Purdue University.
