Grocery Project
Project Type:
Class Project
This project focused on improving the grocery shopping experience for college students through the creation of a mobile application called Schmapp. The project began with an exploration of the challenges faced by college students during grocery shopping, such as time constraints and difficulty navigating stores. Secondary research was conducted to understand various aspects of the in-person shopping experience, including issues faced by elderly consumers and the benefits of in-store shopping over online shopping.
Data collection involved interviews and observations to gather insights into students' shopping behaviors and preferences. My group and I analyzed the data using affinity diagrams and AEIOU charts to identify patterns and design opportunities. Prototyping included the creation of scenarios, journey maps, storyboards, and sketches to visualize the user experience and the functionality of Schmapp.
The final design solution, presented in a video (which is thankfully lost to the sands of time), showcased how Schmapp could streamline the shopping process by providing users with the most efficient route through the store. The project highlighted the importance of understanding user needs and behaviors in designing effective solutions.
Overall, the project was challenging but rewarding, providing valuable insights into the design process and the potential impact of innovative solutions.
